TRUE GRIT - Military Inspired Obstacle Course

COVID-19

While our regular Terms & Conditions state that we don't provide refunds, we recognise that we are operating in very unusual circumstances at the moment. With that in mind, registered participants have several options if their event is postponed due to COVID-19. 1) Transfer your registration to the new dates or 2) Request a refund. We are able to provide a 100% refund on the ticket price + any additional compulsory personal liability insurance paid (note this personal liability insurance is included in the Enduro event ticket), however cannot provide a refund on the Active administration fee which is charged at the time of booking. Please email [email protected] with your preferred option should an event be regretfully postponed due to COVID-19.
We are taking a wide range of additional measures to ensure we are putting on COVID-Safe events for participants, volunteers and staff. These measures will increase and relax in line with the regulations at the time. Measures include but are not limited to: a) working to a comprehensive COVID-Safe event plan that has been approved by the relevant regulatory and Health bodies b) temperature checks on arrival c) contactless pay options d) significantly reduced wave capacities e) monitoring of total event attendance at any one time to ensure we are abiding by the maximum gathering requirements as stipulated by current restrictions in place f) sanitisation of obstacles between waves g) additional and more stringent cleaning schedules of communal areas h) hand sanitiser stations throughout the event + more. We ask that all participants do their bit to ensure a safe event as well - this includes: a) ensuring their electronic waiver has been signed prior to arriving on the day b) not showing up to the event if you are feeling unwell or displaying symptoms of COVID-19, and c) respecting the measures put in place on the day. This includes regular hand sanitising, maintaining social distancing and following the instructions of our volunteer crew and staff should they request something of you that will help make the event as safe as possible for everyone.
If the event does proceed but you aren't able to get there due to living interstate and borders being closed or other COVID-related government restrictions, we will refund you your ticket price + any additional compulsory personal liability insurance. We cannot provide a refund on the Active administration fee which is charged at the time of booking.

REGISTRATION

All race participants need to be a minimum of 16 years of age for the FULL course and a minimum of 12 years of age for the HALF course. Anyone under 18 years of age will need to have a guardian or parent sign a waiver for participation. The event is open to both male and females. Children are allowed at the event, but only as spectators.
No. The only way to enter is through registering on the website or athe the Information tent on the day at each event.
You will receive a confirmation email once you have successfully completed the registration process. Please ensure you enter your email address correctly.
Nothing will be sent by post. Your True Grit wrist band will be picked up on the event day and can be collected at the Registration Tent. Arrive 1 hr prior to your start time to ensure you have enough time. You will receive your Finishers top on completion of the course.
You will need a screenshot or printout of your QR code and photo ID to collect your wrist band from the Registration Tent. Each participant is to pick up their own wrist band only. No exceptions.
Your team can be as big as you want. We recommend a minimum of 2 people per team, just to ensure you have the extra hands that maybe needed to complete some obstacles.
No. There are no refunds or transfers to other events. You can transfer to another person to take your registration. Name transfers can only be made in the morning of the event at the Information Tent, there is a $20 administration fee to do this (cash only).
We cannot assess people’s injuries and therefore do not offer a refund. We encourage you to come along and spectate at the event. You can transfer to another person to take your registration. Yes, you can switch your timing or day of the event. Switch of time is easily done on the morning of the event when you arrive and collect your wristband. There is no additional charge to switch time. Changes to the alternate event day can be done at the Information Tent in the morning of the day you wish to run. You'll need your QR code, photo ID and $20 administration fee.
Yes, all race participants will need to read and acknowledge the True Grit Terms and Conditions and Waiver online during the registration process. Under 18's need a parent or guardian to sign an Under 18 Indemnity waiver. This can be signed by the parent or guardian on arrival to the event.
If your team got in before you and the time slot is now sold out, simply register for another time as an individual. You can still select your team name when you register. On the day we will be happy to manualy move you so you can start with your team. There is no additional charge for this.

PREPARATION

We strongly recommend long pants, or leggings and long socks to make your course comfortable and provide protection. Running or hiking shoes are sufficient to attempt the course. Keep clothing light, as you are guaranteed to warm up during the course. Water bladders are a good way to keep re-hydrated. Go Pro's or similar devides may be worn, however, we take no responsibility if they are lost during your course. We advise you to secure the device during water or mud obstacles.
True Grit events are designed to test both physical and mental grit. You will need some endurance to complete the course. There are two training programs (Intermediate/Advanced) provided under the “True Grit Training” section on this website. Alternatively, you may want to walk the course and only attempt some obstacles. True Grit encourages participants of all fitness levels.
You should be confident to at least swim 20 metres. Safety staff will be at all water locations to assist you if required. If you are not a confident swimmer you can bypass the obstacle.

AT THE EVENT

The True Grit registration page contains a link that gives you directions from your nominated start point.
Entry to the event will be via the car park. The car park will open from 8.00am on each event day.
You should arrive approximately 1 hour prior to your start time to ensure you have picked up your wrist band and that you are warmed up properly prior to the start. The car park will open from 8.00am on each event day.
A race clock will be at the start and finish points.
True Grit events will not be cancelled due to weather conditions. We use the Army motto, “If it ain’t raining, it ain’t training!”.
Water will be available periodically during the course. First aid qualified personnel and equipment will be positioned along the course, as well as a doctor available at the medical area near the finish line.
Your team will have to start at your scheduled start time. We will simply place them in a following wave.
All participants will have the opportunity to hose/wash down after the event. Remember, there are water and mud obstacles, so bring a towel and change of clothes.
A male and female changing tent will be provided.
You can simply bypass any obstacle that you’re not comfortable with. We encourage all participants to at least attempt all obstacles.
There will be a baggage/cloak tent for you to use at the event. We recommend to leave your valuables in your car or with any spectators that may accompany you.
It should take the average person approximately 1.5 to 2.5 hours to complete.
If you make the decision to drive to the event please be aware that water will be freely available and that drink driving will be strictly enforced by relevant State Authorities.
A 2XU True Grit merchandise tent is at every True Grit event across the country. The facility is equipped with credit card facilities so you don't need to be concerned with bring a large amount of cash with you on the day.
Adelaide - Caudo Vineyard Camp on-site at the beautiful Caudo Vineyard. Soak in the atmosphere of the cellar door and the hogwash river bend whilst enjoying a bonfire at night and relax before/after this huge event. Tickets to camp can be purchased through the registration gateway or at the gate on the day (subject to availability). We strongly encourage you to pre-book to avoid disappointment. Camping on-site is appropriate for tents as well as small caravans, RV’s and 4WD Off Road Camper Trailers. Please note however that sites do not have access to power, toilets however will be available. Perth - Donnybrook Balingup On-site camping available. Soak up the atmosphere of the event whilst enjoying a bonfire at night and relax before/after this huge event. Tickets to camp can be purchased through the registration gateway or at the gate on the day (subject to availability). We strongly encourage you to pre-book to avoid disappointment. Camping on-site is appropriate for tents as well as small caravans, RV’s and 4WD Off Road Camper Trailers. Please note however that sites do not have access to power, toilets however will be available. Brisbane - Tamborine Unfortunately there is no camping on site at our Queensland event, but due to the close proximity of the event to the Gold Coast and Brisbane it’s only a short ride home for our Gritters and there are plenty of accommodation options available in the region.
